RSA issue appeal for motorists not to drink and drive this bank holiday

There were no fatalities this time last year and the RSA are aiming for the same again this year

38% of all fatal collisions between 2008 and 2012 involved a driver, motorcyclist, cyclist or pedestrian who had consumed alcohol.

The results of the Road Safety Authority's pre-crash report found that 29% of fatal collisions involved a driver or motorcyclist who had consumed alcohol, while 9% involved a pedestrian who had consumed alcohol.

March accounts for 11% of alcohol related collisions and motorists are being reminded to never drink and drive this bank holiday weekend.

Speaking to RedFM News Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority has this advice for anyone taking to the roads this weekend.
