Samartians lend an ear over festive period

Mental health, family, isolation and loneliness are expected to be top concerns this Christmas.

Samaritan's volunteers in Ireland will staff the phonelines for 12,500 hours over the festive season, to listen to anyone having a tough time.

The charity's Gill Leo says its helpline will remain open round the clock, even on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
