Save Cork City campaign are launching their alternative plan to the Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme in the city tonight

The group who are opposed to the €150 million project have mounted several protests and have lodged submissions against the scheme to the Office of Public Works
They say the plan will threaten business and tourism with its emphasis on raised quay walls and embankments.
Tonight they'll present their flood protection plan which includes the construction of a tidal barrier, the restoration of the quay side landscape and slowing the flow of the river from upstream in order to protect the city.
Over 1,000 submissions have been received by the OPW about the current plan and speaking to RedFM News John Hegarty from the Save Cork City campaign says this speaks volumes and shows the plan is not a viable one.
