Scotland says NO

David Cameron says the Scottish independence debate has been "settled for a generation" and now's the time for the "United Kingdom to come together and to move forward". The British Prime Minister has been speaking on the steps of Downing Street - as Scotland votes to stay part of the UK. One council has still to return their result but more than 1.9 million people chose to support Better Together - which works out as 55% of the vote. Turnout has been huge - with more than 84% of people voting. Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond this morning accepted defeat, but warned that Westminster promises that were made to try and sway voters must be kept.
