Scouting Ireland Has Announced Plans To Increase Its Membership Fees

The organisation wants to create a compensation fund for past child-abuse cases

Annual membership fees for children will jump from 45 euro to 65 euro, and from 42.50 to 65 euro for adults.

Scouting Ireland also intends to hold fundraising events in April or May of each year to contribute to a Solidarity Fund for a victim support programme.

The new measures come as the organisation deals with a number of reports of abuse between 1960 and 2000.

One man in Cork is currently under active investigation by Gardai.
