Section Of Proposed M20 Motorway Between Cork And Mallow Would Cut Whitechurch-Waterloo Community In Two

That's according to Dee Hosford, the chairperson of the 'Whitechurch Resident's Association Against The M20 Motorway'

The community group is organising its first open-air, public meeting, at 8 o'clock tonight.

The group is opposed to the construction, of the section of the M20 between Cork and Mallow, and believe an upgrade of the existing road would be preferable.

Tonight's meeting will be the first time that members of the community can gather together to get information, and express their own views of the proposed road.

Speaking to RedFM News, Dee Hosford, says that the proposed motorway, would make it an ordeal to drive from side of the community to the other:

"So it would actually cut the community in two. Our main concern for residents down that end, would be access to Whitchurch, because basically what they'd have to do, if the motorway goes ahead, is they'd have to travel a good distance to get onto an on-ramp, to come on the motorway, to come off it again, to come to Whitechurch, I mean, that's actually breaking our community in two."
