Senator Buttimer: Rise In Anti-Social Behaviour In City Centre Needs Urgent Action

The rise in anti-social behaviour in the city must be tackled urgently to ensure that it is a safe place to recreate, live and work
That's according to Cork Senator Jerry Buttimer who says the city is becoming a "no-go" area, with people feeling threatened and worried walking the streets, due to the presence of gangs of youths.
He has expressed his concern that the city could find itself at the centre of a summer of discontent, if urgent action is not taken now.
Speaking to RedFM News, Senator Buttimer says there is a collective responsibility to ensure that the city centre is safe:
"I'm conscious that we have a very strong Cork City Centre policing strategy. But I believe now that there needs to be a real proactive conversation with action around how we can tackle it, and ensure that we don't have a summer of discontent in our city centre and around the city."
