Senator Jerry Buttimer calls for reestablishment of aviation recovery task force
A Cork Senator is calling for a task force to be established in the wake of the closure of Stobart Air.
Stobart had operated regional flights for Aer Lingus across Ireland and the UK, but informed the airline that it was to
cease trading immediately and was to appoint a liquidator.
Senator Jerry Buttimer is appealing to the Minister Eamon Ryan to adopt a hands on approach to ensure that connectivity
is maintained for Cork.
Speaking to RedFM news Senator Buttimer called for the aviation recovery task force to be re-established to help examine new routes.
"I've been asking the Minister for Transport that we have the aviation recovery task force recovery plan established, four the group to be reestablished to put together a plan for the recovery of aviation.
"We need our aviation sector. We are dependent on connectivity - from a Cork perspective London Heathrow and Amsterdam are pivotal to us."
