Senior Lecturer At UCC Says People Who Switch To Electric Cars Will Save Money In Long Term

The government wants a million electric vehicles on Ireland's roads by 2030
That's as part of the Government's recent Climate Action Plan
UCC Lecturer and Electric Vehicle Industry professional John Hayes says electric vehicles are more efficient, allowing them to travel further and use less energy than their fossil fuel burning counterparts.
The first Irish Government plan for electric vehicles in 2008 promised 200,000 vehicles on the roads by 2020.
However the actual number predicted for next year stands at 10,000, 95% short of the target.
Speaking to RedFM News, Senior Lecturer at UCC John Hayes explains the benefits for consumers who choose to switch to an electric car:
