Severe Overcrowding In Cork Hospitals Today

Two Cork Hospitals are experiencing severe overcrowding today.

Cork University Hospital has 38 patients receiving treatment on trolleys in the Emergency Department, while the Mercy University Hospital is also under pressure with 24 patients currently awaiting admission.

The figures come from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association who say that 542 patients are on trolleys in hospitals across the country.

University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded in the country with 58 patients in need of a bed.
