Sexual Violence Centre Cork Calling On People To Make Voices Heard In Fight Against Sexual Violence
The charity's annual report for 2019 shows a slight decrease in calls to their helplines but a large increase in the number of students contacting them for support.
37% of all new clients said they were students, three quarters said they were 23 or younger and 5% of new clients identified as an asylum seeker.
The home continues to be the most common location for sexual violence while house parties and pubs and night clubs accounted for 4.9% of cases.
Speaking to RedFM News, Mary Crilly from the Cork Sexual Violence Centre says more needs to be done to change the narrative around younger people and sexual violence:
