Significant development in Cork to US route process

A final decision on the route is expected next month.
An end is finally in sight for a decision on the first transatlantic route to operate out of Cork Airport.
The US Department of Transportation has approved the license for the Cork to US route in principal, with a final decision expected next month.
There will now be a period of 21 days for interested parties to make submissions supporting or objecting the route with a decision to be made a week later.
The route had been shrouded in uncertainty in recent months with a delay in the granting of the license to Norwegian Air who plan to operate the route.
Cork Airport say despite a time frame to allow for submissions and potential objections to the route, the indications are 'looking good' to giving the route the green light.
Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager with Cork Airport Kevin Cullinane says it's a significant development in the process.
