Significant Drop In Students Choosing Third Level Computing, Maths & Physics Sciences

There's been a significant drop in the number of students choosing third level courses in computing, maths and the physics based sciences.

The CAO says it received 72,643 applications by the February 1st deadline - a four and a half per cent drop on the previous year.

Applications for Arts courses were also down this year.

In contrast, biological science, Engineering and Primary education courses all went up.
