Sinn Fein Calling On Government To Reinstate Ban On Evictions And Rent Increases

The party wants the Housing Minister to urgently intervene due to an increase in the number of homeless families in April
The number of adults with children accessing homeless services has risen by 22 since March, with 1,356 accessing homeless services last month.
Sinn Fein housing spokesperson Eoin O'Broin says tenants need more protection to prevent them being put out on the streets:
"What we cannot have is a situation where families are receiving notice to quit, and they are finding it difficult to secure alternative properties, and then wake up in emergency accommodation. That's unacceptable in ordinary times but during a time of COVID, it is totally unacceptable. So really what we need to see is those protections reinstated."
