Sinn Fein say pay rise for Department of Health General Secretary is "simply wrong"

Sinn Fein is 'demanding answers' as to why a senior figure at the Department of Health is set to get an €81,000 pay increase.
The current Secretary General is filling in the role temporarily, while a full time candidate is found.
However the person who takes up that position will receive €292,000 per year, up from the €211,000 it currently pays.
Sinn Fein TD Mairead Farrell says this is 'simply wrong' when hundreds of thousands of people are on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
"We need to look at this in the context of this pandemic, and it's just simply wrong.
"It makes no sense to have a situation where we have an €81,000 pay increase for any individual or any person within a situation where there are guidelines in terms of public pay."
