SIPTU Bus drivers threaten 'major dispute' over work conditions

Bus drivers at SIPTU say they will mount a ‘major dispute’ unless they’re given guarantees on work conditions. The union has given the Department of Transport, Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann until April 24th to give them guarantees regarding tenure of employment and security of employment, or they'll strike. Drivers fear changes to their terms and conditions as part of plans to privatise 10 percent of bus services. It follows a decision by the National Bus and Rail Union to mount a day of action on May 1st, including work stoppages. Sector organiser with SIPTU Willie Noone says they’ll mount a major dispute if their request is not met by April 24th. Click the PLAY button to hear.
