SIPTU hits out at "strike breakers" in Kerry Group dispute

SIPTU has hit out at the use of so-called "strike breakers" in the Kerry Group dispute which is affecting the Charleville plant.

The union has appealed to the firm to stop using strike breakers or face the further escalation of a dispute which centres on the what they claim is the company's refusal to attend the Workplace Relations Commission.

Workers at the firms' food ingredient plants are currently conducting a 24-hour work stoppage which began this morning, however one of the plants is continuing to operate through the use of other workers.

The union claims that this step was taken to undermine their members while they are engaging in a trade dispute.
