SIPTU To Ballot Hospital Support Staff For Strike Action

SIPTU is to begin balloting hospital support staff for strike action from today.
The union says members are unhappy about the failure to implement the Lansdowne Road Agreement, particularly regarding job evaluations and the provision of incremental credit for interns.
Members across 50 hospitals, including Cork University Hospital, Cork University Maternity Hospital, Bantry General Hospital and the Mercy, will be balloted over the next three weeks - with the results due on February 13th.
SIPTU divisional organiser Paul Bell says the Department of Health and the HSE have had ample time to engage:
