SIPTU to ballot members in planning process at County Council

SIPTU members involved in the planning process at Cork County Council are to be balloted for strike action.

The union says the dispute centres around the refusal of management to engage with the planning workforce on recruitment issues.

Workers involved in road maintenance, housing and planning processes claim they are seriously understaffed, due to management's failure to replace workers as they retire.

Staff  have also expressed fears that Cork County Council management are moving towards outsourcing work to private companies.

The ballot is scheduled to take place on Monday 13th of February.
