Some Public Patients In West Cork Are Having To Wait Up To 5 Years For Cataract Surgery

That's according to a new survey from the Association of Optometrists Ireland
The survey found a large disparity in waiting times for the surgery across the country.
The average is now 29 months - a slight increase on last year.
There has also been a 74 percent rise in the number of patients going to Northern Ireland for eye-care.
Optometrist and spokesperson for the Association of Optometrists Ireland Lynda McGivney Nolan says children's eyecare services are also in poor health:
