Some Reports Of Sex Crimes In The City Dealt With By Detectives Who Are Not Fully Trained To Handle Them

The Protective Services Unit based at Anglesea Street deals with sexual crimes like organised prostitution, child exploitation and domestic abuse.
The Cork branch of the Garda Representative Association say the unit is chronically understaffed with some highly trained detectives dealing with up to 50 cases each.
The unit was staffed with 10 specially trained detectives when it opened, however four were promoted out of the unit with just two officers appointed to replace them.
