Some traveller families in the city reveal they are living with no piped water

Earlier this year the McDonagh family called for electricity at Nash's Boreen which is an unofficial halting site  


A number of traveller families in Cork city have revealed that they're living with no piped water and have to shower at a local swimming pool... 

On foot of the revelations at a housing conference in UCC yesterday, a manifesto was launched to fight for adequate accommodation for members of the travelling community.

The conference heard that one family in particular have been living on an unofficial halting site for the last 15 years where they have no electricity and have to share a public toilet. Cork City Council is refusing to install power at the site as it does not have official status.  

It follows a protest outside the local authority earlier this year where members of the McDonagh family called for electricity for Nash's Boreen which is another unofficial site.
