Speculation that Nissan may take over Amgen site
Speculation is mounting that car manufacturer Nissan may be interested in the former Amgen site in Carrigtwohill.
Fianna Fail Cllr Kenneth O'Flynn claims that the site is be visited by representatives of Nissan Japan and Nissan UK in the coming weeks with a view to assessing the site as a possible location for either a new manufacturing plant or as an alternative to their Sunderland plant.
Nissan employs 9,000 people across the UK at its plants in Sunderland, Bedfordshire and London.
The former Amgen site in Carrigtowhill has been idle since 2007.
