Spotlight on the system of direct provision in Cork

The spotlight will once again fall on the system of direct provision in Cork today. An event to raise awareness about the issue is taking place in CIT following protests by asylum seekers at Ashbourne House in Glounthaune and at the Kinsale Road facility in September. A national protest was staged last week in a bid to end the system which asylum seekers say is depressing as it denies them access to work and education. Many also claim they're living in limbo with no answer on their citizenship status. AUDIO: Speaking to RedFM News Philip Hughes of the 'Live in Limbo, What Now' event says they've carried out research to establish public opinion on the issue, and it's clear that most people are in favour of change.
