St Vincent de Paul Have Expressed Concern Following The Removal Of Their Two 'Bring Site' Facilities In Midleton

The sites where their clothes banks are located were recently closed due to fly-tipping

St Vincent de Paul have expressed concern following the removal of their two 'Bring Site' facilities in Midleton.

The sites where their clothes banks are located were recently closed and the charity says they believe it's because people are fly-tipping near the bins dumping household waste in and around the clothes banks.

In a statement issued to RedFM News Cork County Council says that the bring site at Distillery Road was removed at the request of the East Cork Municipal District Council in order to return the six parking bays which the clothes bank occupied back to their original function as parking.

The local authority says the second facility at Market Green is located on land in private ownership and the Council did not request the removal of the clothes bank here.

Speaking to RedFM News Brendan Dempsey says those using the clothes banks as a dumping ground should understand that it's affecting the charity and those who rely on them.
