Staff And Patients At The South Infirmary/Victoria University Hospital Are To Be Offered Screening For TB

It comes after it emerged that a patient who attends the hospital for treatment has the infection
The patient who is living in the HSE South area is under the care of a consultant physician and is receiving treatment.
Staff at the Department of Public Health are undertaking a risk assessment and in conjunction with the hospital a number of patients and staff who have been in close contact with this patient have been identified. These people will be offered screening as per national guidance.
The hospital has confirmed that there is no outbreak of TB at the hospital and says they will continue to closely monitor the situation in association with the HSE.
