Starbucks runs into planning trouble with Princes Street outlet

Starbucks have run into planning difficulties in relation to their newly opened outlet in the city. The coffee shop chain opened their first city centre premises earlier this month at 39 Princes Street. The location previously operated as a fashion store and following its redevelopment as a cafe serving drinks and food, a complaint was made to the City Council that the outlet does not meet the necessary planning requirements. Starbucks now have four weeks to respond to the warning letter after which the Council may issue an enforcement notice that could require the company to remove the unauthorised development.
