State Spent Record €93.5 Million Of Dormant Accounts Fund Last Year

‘Intinn’, a mental health programme for Transition Year and Senior Cycle students nationwide, which was created by the Cork International Film Festival, was one of the charitable projects which secured funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund last year
The Dormant Accounts Act allows for the funds in unclaimed accounts within banks, building societies etc. to be used to support disadvantaged groups.
The state spent a record 93.5 million euro of the fund last year.
Of that, €50 million was used for COVID-19 supports and €43.5 million was used for normal dormant account measures.
That figure was up from €37.4 million the year before.
