A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Cork, with gusts of up to 110 kilometres an hour expected along the coast as Storm Ali passes over the country
Motorists are warned to be alert to debris and fallen trees on the roads, while Cork Airport say the storm may impact on flight schedules and are advising passengers to check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport.
Meanwhile, Day two of the National Ploughing Championships in Co Offaly won’t get underway until 11 this morning because of the extreme weather.
