Status Yellow Weather Alert In Operation Across Cork Until 9pm

RSA say motorists under estimate the force and power of water and take unnecessary risks
Motorists are being advised of further heavy rainfall across Cork this evening
Met Eireann has issued a status yellow alert for Munster and Leinster which is in place until 9 o'clock tonight
Gardai are advising that if the road ahead is flooded to use alternative routes if possible and not to attempt to drive through it
The RSA say motorists under estimate the force and power of water and take unnecessary risks that could see their vehicle being swept downstream. They are reminding listeners that it takes just a foot of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.
