The CervicalCheck scandal led to an increased demand for repeat and routine smear tests and the HSE says as a result women are facing long delays for their test results to be issued 

 

The current wait time for test results  is up to 20 weeks from the time of the smear test

 

Speaking to RedFM News Stephen Teap says the scandal has underlined the importance of having a screening programme
