Stormy Weather Wreaks Havoc On Christmas Plans

Stormy weather is causing travel disruptions for hundreds of people coming home for Christmas. Met Eireann has issued a Yellow weather warning for today, with high winds affecting many parts of the country. An Orange alert for the entire country has been issued for Christmas Eve. A number of fast ferry crossings from Holyhead to Dublin have been affected, but cruise sailings on that route are still in operation. All sailings on the Pembroke to Rosslare route for today have been cancelled. Meanwhile The stormy conditions have also caused widespread power outages and disruption to phone and broadband services. The ESB says that electiricity service has now returned to normal levels, with just 300 customers without power. Almost five and a half thousand Eircom customers are currently without phone and broadband services this morning. AUDIO: Director of Corporate Affairs at Eircom, Paul Bradley, says crews are working to restore services to all customers. Click the PLAY button above to hear.
