Strike may be on the cards for Irish Rail

Strike action could be on the cards at Irish Rail, after SIPTU workers voted to reject Labour Court recommendations on a cost saving plan. The company wants to change workers terms and conditions - in a bid to save 8.7 million euro this year. SIPTU balloted its staff on the proposals - which they rejected by 51 per cent to 49. The union says it will now meet with management to discuss the situation -and ballot its members on strike and industrial action.
