Strong demand for hair appointments reported across Cork

Hairdressers, beauticians and personal services are set to resume on May 10th

Hairdressers, beauticians and personal services are all set to resume on May 10th with many reporting the rush is already on to secure an early booking

Hotels are set to reopen from June 2nd and the addition of inter-county travel has been broadly welcomed by hoteliers at this time

The government is examining the return of international travel in July as part of the EU green pass system.

While no firm dates have been set the measure will be considered next month if the wider easing of restrictions goes well.

A pilot programme for large sporting events and gigs is also set to be trialled over the summer.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin says there will be consideration given to international travel over the coming months:

The re-opening of hairdressers which have been closed since the end of December is being welcomed as many are seen as a vital part of the local community

Fiona Austin who runs Hair2Beauty in Ballinhassig told RedFM News while it's been a tough few months she's really looking forward to re-opening her doors and welcoming her clients back

"It has been hard even to go down to the salon, when I was able to come out of my five kilometres, the salon looked sad. It was dark and it just wasn't the same. Whereas now, we do see light and we are able to come back down and get the salon prepared and have everything organised"

Lana : "Will you be ready to open those doors on May 10th"

Fiona:  "I'm ready now. We're ready. The appointments are being taken, and people would come back today if there were able to"
