Strong Winds Leave Thousands Without Power

2,000 households and businesses nationwide are without power, after high winds battering the country last night. Cork city and county was hit by a severe thunder and lighting storm late last night which led to power outtages in many areas. ESB network crews are curently working to restore power to affected areas of the South West, Mid West and North West. In the South, 8-thousand customers in Bandon, Blarney and Killarney Co. Kerry are worst-affected in the aftermath of the storm. ESB Networks say it hopes to restore power within the next few hours, now that high winds have abated.
