Student speaks out about racism in Cork
A UCC student who is originally from Africa says more discussion is needed in Cork to combat racism. Niyi Kolawole has been living Leeside for 13 years and says he's had more negative experiences in Cork than positive ones. Most recently he was threatened while waiting outside a chipper in the city centre and had to lock himself inside his car while a group of men banged on the windows shouting racial slurs. It come ahead of tomorrow's rally organised by Cork Says No To Racism in Daunt Square to mark World Anti-Racism Day. Speaking to RedFM News Niyi says he has had to call the guards three times over incidents of racial abuse during his time here and he says the trouble started with his neighbour when he first moved to Cork.
