Students call on Government to invest in mental health

The Union of Students in Ireland have called on the Government to invest €5 million in third level mental health counselling.

The USI launched their pre-budget submission outside Lenister House and at the offices of Micheal Martin and Enda Kenny earlier this morning.

The union says feedback from students has highlighted the need for 24/7 crisis intervention services across Irish Universities.

They say support for young people in college is crucial, in order to improve wellbeing and strengthen their mental health during stressful periods.
