Students have been warned about accommodation scams Leeside

Overseas students planning to study in Cork have been victims of an accommodation scam.
The scammers are preying on students who are panicking over scarce accommodion Leeside.
At least 30 people have been contacted by an individual who made unsolicited contact pretending to have rooms to offer.
To date two of the students have been caught out by the scam, and have paid what they thought were deposits for accommodation.
It is unclear how their contact details were obtained but it may have been from online forums and accommodation websites.
