Students To Receive Leaving Cert Results Today

Guidance counsellors are reminding students not to panic as the new marking system comes into effect today.
This year 6,600 Leaving Certificate students across Cork will receive their results, and this year they will be marked with eight different grades rather than the old 14.
The old points system has been replaced with what's called the Common Points Scale, and will range from H1-H8 for Higher Level and O1- O2 for Ordinary Level.
A Freephone number will be open from 10am this morning offering advice, information and reassurance for students who may have any queries about their results.
The 1800 265 165 Freephone number is open until 7pm this evening and will remain in place for the next seven days
Speaking to RedFM News President of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors Eddie McGrath says students should not compare this year's results to last year as the system is completely different.
