Study Appears to Confirms Locals Fears Over Proposed Mogeely Cheese Plant

Dairygold plans to pump up to 3 million litres of waste a day into the water

A report on Cork Harbour appears to confirm locals fears about waste produced by a proposed cheese plant in Mogeely.

At a meeting earlier this month locals expressed their concerns about Dairygold's plans to build a cheese production plant in their area after it emerged that it would pump up to 3 million litres of waste a day into the water.

Dairygold claimed the waste would be "safely carried out to sea on outgoing tides" but a study by NUI Galway has contradicted that finding.
