Suicide Prevention Meeting to take place Leeside
There is support available to communities affected by Suicide.
That's the message ahead of a meeting taking place in Hollyhill this evening supported by the National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP).
Speakers from Pieta House, the Samaritans and other local organisations will attend the meeting in an effort to tackle the increased suicide rate in Cork.
A report from the NOSP highlighted alcohol and substance misuse as a major risk factor in self harm and suicide.
Speaking to RedFM News Alcohol Action Ireland's Conor Cullan says it's important that anyone who is suffering reaches out to friends and family rather than turning to alcohol:
The meeting will take place in Terence MacSwiney College between 7 and 9pm.
