Suicide returns to spotlight Leeside after Cork actress speaks out

A Cork actress says she's alarmed by the high rate of suicide she has encountered since she returned to Leeside last year.
Rachel Sarah Murphy who played 'Jo' in Fair City says she felt compelled to set up a monthly Team Life Skills course in the city to provide a positive outlet for young teenagers.
It comes as Pieta House revealed to RedFM News they have had to take on additional staff to cope with the demand for their service.
The organisation says since they opened their doors in 2013 they have seen 3,000 people and their Cork service is now their busiest office in Ireland.
The City Council is today hosting a suicide discussion workshop with transition year students from Cork schools in response to growing concerns among the general public about a spate of suicides on the south side of the city.
Speaking to RedFM News Rachel Sarah Murphy says initiatives like this are essential especially in Cork where suicide rates are alarming:
