Surplus Food donation programme donates 70,000 meals in Cork

Cork local charities and support groups have received almost 70,000 meals from a surplus food donation programme.
The initiative run with Tesco Ireland in partnership with Irish social enterprise FoodCloud have distributed the meals across the city and county since 2014.
A wide range of Cork based organisations including Cork Foyer and the Mahon Youth Development Project have benefited by receiving over 31,000 kilos of surplus food from Tesco stores across Cork.
Nationwide 2 million meals have been re- distributed - which equates to 1,000 tonnes of food.
