Survey shows Cork women least likely to attend smear test appointment

Women in Cork are the least likely to attend a smear test appointment.

That's according to research by Cervicalcheck and the Irish Family Planning Association, who say the simple test can reduce a woman's risk of cervical cancer by 90%.

Each year over 300 women are diagnosed with the cancer, and up to 90 women die from the disease.

They are calling on women aged 25 - 60 living in Cork to support the "Pearl of Wisdom" campaign run in conjunction with the National Cervical Screening Programme.
