Swimming ban at Youghal's Front Strand

A swimming ban is in operation at a beach in East Cork as a result of excessive E.coli bacteria levels in the water. Notices were put up at the Front Strand in Youghal after council officials spotted elevated levels of the bacteria in routine sampling. It is believed that localised heavy rain may have caused slurry to wash into the River Blackwater and then out to sea. The Council will announce later today if the swimming ban at Youghal will be lifted or remain in place Jennifer Ryan has the story for RedFM News Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
