Tánaiste heckled during Cork visit

Joan Burton was in Cork today to promote job creation in the region.

A protest has taken place in the city against the Tánaiste's visit to Cork.

Joan Burton is Leeside this afternoon to promote job creation in the region and officially opened two new Department of Social Protection Intreo Centres on Georges Quay. 

Up to 30 protesters with a number of placards heckled the Tainiste as she entered the Abbey Courthouse building where there was also a large garda presence. 

Protestors say they are taking a stand against issues like water charges, housing and food poverty Leeside. 

However, speaking to RedFM News before the event, the Tánaiste says outside of job creation, she is also here to address some of these issues.
