Tanaiste says Ireland is assessing a plan to provide oxygen and ventilators to India

Leo Varadkar says the level of suffering in the country is beyond comprehension
The Tanaiste says Ireland is assessing a plan to provide oxygen and ventilators to India - as hospitals there remain overwhelmed by coronavirus infections.
For the fourth day in a row, India has reported a world record number of new daily cases - with just under 350 thousand new infections in the last 24 hours.
Dr Trupti Gilada, an infectious diseases consultant, says the situation in the country is stark:
"It's an emotion of fear of frustration and fear of helplessness because how much ever we try at some point we just cannot do our best, because there is a shortage of oxygen shortage of ICU beds and shortage of medicines."
