Tánaiste says it's "unfair" to tell families and young people they can't holiday without vaccination

International travel is set to resume on July 19th when the EU Digital Green Certificate is introduced

However, the Chief Medical Officer has urged people not to travel abroad unless they're inoculated against Covid.

Leo Varadkar says the Government has to take fairness into account, particularly for people at the back of the vaccine queue:

"What Tony Holohan is saying is entirely understandable, from a public health point of view and a scientific point of view, but we think it'd be unfair to say to families and to say to younger people who haven't had the opportunity to get vaccinated yet, because we have another supply to say to them that you can't travel abroad, and that's why we're putting in very strict rules, which is the requirement of a PCR test before you return."
