Simon Coveney made the comments to RedFM News as the INMO, HSE and government continue their review of the dispute at the Labour Court this afternoon
Nurses and midwives finished their third 24 hour strike at 8am this morning and have a further five strike days planned for this month.
The protest has led to thousands of hospital appointments being cancelled and concerns from emergency medicine consultants who say the strike is leading to a deepening of the trolley crisis at Cork University Hospital
Speaking to RedFM News in the city centre, Tánaiste Simon Coveney says strike action needs to be avoided
