Tánaiste: Strong Evidence Needed to Overturn Ringaskiddy Incinerator Planning

Calls were made over the weekend on Simon Coveney to use the new powers given to the Government to revoke planning permission for projects which are a threat to national security.
The Green Party are leading these calls and say in this case the Defence Forces objected to the location of the Ringaskiddy incinerator because it would prevent helicopters from using naval headquarters at Haulbowline and therefore pose a threat to the continuing operation of the naval base and the safety of members stationed there.
Speaking to RedFM News Tánaiste Simon Coveney says the amendment was not introduced in relation to incineration but he is not surprised that the question has been raised:
